Early Passion and Educational Foundation
Dr. Silva has had a passion for dentistry since the age of 5. Knowing she wanted to be a future dentist, she made sure to learn as much as she could by taking dental assisting courses in high school and practicing as an orthodontic assistant in college.
After college, she accomplished her dream of graduating from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. This early dedication to understanding dentistry from multiple perspectives provided her with a comprehensive foundation for patient care.
Unique Military Training and Experience
Dr. Silva received unique training immediately after dental school, serving as an active-duty dentist in the U.S. Army. Her Army experience began as a reserve member from May 2, 2008 to August 28, 2012, followed by active duty service from August 30, 2012 to August 28, 2015, and continued with reserve duty from August 29, 2015 to March 24, 2020. This military experience was unique in that it allowed her to serve our soldiers’ treatment needs in a group practice setting alongside other dental specialists who mentored her.
This military experience provided Dr. Silva with invaluable training in working under pressure, maintaining high standards of care, and collaborating with other dental professionals. The mentorship she received from dental specialists during her Army service enhanced her clinical skills and broadened her understanding of comprehensive dental care through work with oral surgery, restorative dentistry, and various other specialties.
Commitment to Family and Community
After exiting the Army, Dr. Silva moved back to Chicago where she practiced dentistry in Lakeview. Recently her family moved to the south side of Chicago where she decided it was time to find a closer dental office allowing her to spend more time with her family and less time commuting.
Dr. Silva is the mother of 2 girls and works well with children of all ages. She is friendly and full of good dental advice, making her an excellent choice for families seeking comprehensive dental care in a comfortable environment.
Advanced Education and Professional Credentials
Dr. Silva is dedicated to learning about dentistry and staying informed about advances in technology and research. She was recently accepted into a 2-year program through the University of Florida School of Dentistry, traveling once a month for the next 2 years to Florida in pursuit of her Mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry, aiming for completion by the end of 2026.
The program includes over 600 hours of advanced training and continuing education in advanced restorative dentistry techniques, modern cosmetic dentistry procedures, current research in dental technology and materials, evidence-based treatment protocols, and comprehensive patient care approaches. This commitment to advanced education demonstrates Dr. Silva’s dedication to providing patients with the most current and effective treatments available.
